United States Achievement Academy News Release

The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Abel Ticahun from Baltimore, Maryland has been recognized be the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in Honor Roll, Leadership, and Mathematics.

This is a prestigious honor very few students can hope to attain. In fact, the Academy recognizes fewer than 10% of all American high school students.

Abel Ticahun, who attends Dundalk High School, was nominated for this honor by Fanay Meshesha and Mrs. Holcomb at the school. Abel Ticahun will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook which is published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, United States Achievement Academy students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr, George Stevens, Founder of the United States Achievement Academy.

The academy recognizes students upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, students, counselors, and other qualified sponsors and upon the Standards for Selection set forth by the academy. The Standards for Selection include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.

Todd Crandell & Jordan Hadfield

Todd Crandell and Jordan Hadfield are two politicians running in the upcoming campaigns for Delegate and State Senate. Todd Crandell is a Business Consultant who is running for Delegate in District 6 and he is running against Joseph Minnick, John Olszewski, and Michael Weir. Jordan Hadfield is running for State Senate in District 6, he is running against Senator Norman Stone Jr.

Todd Crandell says that he loves helping people; that is why he loves his job as a Business Consultant. “I would have to say, the thing I like most about my job is how much I help people.” On February 9, 2010, right after Maryland was hit by the gigantic blizzard, Todd Crandell and his partner who is running for State Senate, Jordan Hadfield, went door-to-door and shoveled snow for their fellow citizens. They called this campaign effort, “Can You Dig It?” They and many other 6^th District candidates shoveled out more than three dozen homes and informed people about what they are running for and what they plan on doing if they are elected. The next day they continued to give out the free service to anyone who requested their assistance.

Mr. Crandell and Mr. Hadfield also hold another campaign effort called “Coffee and Tea”. In this event, Todd Crandell and Jordan Hadfield go to different homes around Maryland and discuss what is on their mind, and what is on the listeners mind. Here is how it works. You contact Jordan Hadfield or Todd Crandell, you invite anyone you please, whether for political reasons or just for a get-together, and Jordan and Todd will bring the food and drinks.

Winter Sports Banquet

The 2010 Winter Sports Banquet scheduled for February 24^th has been canceled because of the amount of games that have to be rescheduled. The banquet will be rescheduled, but we do not know the date at this time.

Dues Drive

The week of January 25^th, the Class of 2012 will be holding a dues drive. If you pay any portion of your dues, you will receive a piece of candy. Dues are thirty dollars for freshman and sophomore years combined, thirty dollars for junior year, and forty dollars for senior year. If you do not pay you dues, you will not graduate on stage.

Student of the Month: December

This year at Dundalk High every month there will be a “Student of the Month” for each grade. Teachers nominate students based on behavior, grades, and upholding the values of Dundalk High. The students of the month will receive a pizza lunch and a certificate to congratulate them for their award.

Dues Drive

January 7^th through January 14^th the Class of 2012 is holding a dues drive. If you pay a ten dollar portion of your dues, you will be eligible to go to a free screening of The Fast and the Furious on January 14^th at 2:30 in the Library. Refreshments will be provided for all those who attend.
