The War in Iraq began on March 20th 2003 with troops from the United States and the United Kingdom. They were sent to Iraq because Iraq was suspected of possessing weapons of mass destruction (WMD), but no WMDs have been found. That same war began in March 2003 is still going on today in January 2010.

That means our troops need basic necessities that we take for granted such as protein bars, 5 Hour Energy Shots, drink mixes, water bottles, candy, snacks, socks, books, magazines, and toiletries. Troops also enjoy receiving letters.

To meet these basic necessities Mrs. Dillard in room 230 and Mrs. Cline in the Library is collecting these supplies and will be sending them the beginning of February. “The supplies are going to Brian Lawson and Jason Lang,” stated Mrs. Dillard. Any and all donations will be accepted and sent overseas.

Brain Lawson graduated from Dundalk in 2005 and Jason Lang also graduated from Dundalk, but in 2008, so the supplies will be going to previous Dundalk students that have gone on to serve our country in the biggest way.

“It gives me a chance to give back to the students that are heroes and keep us safe,” stated Mrs. Dillard.
