On January 12, 2010 a massive earthquake hit Haiti. Haiti is one the poorest countries in the world. Haiti’s government put the body count at 150,000 on January 23, 2010. The earthquake caused major damage to Port-au-Prince the capital of Haiti. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed and hundreds of people were left homeless. The rescue around the world start reaching Haiti on the third day, but it was too late for thousands. Thousands of people were trapped in collapsed buildings. For the first three days, no one was there to help and many people died. It was the worst earthquake in the region in more than 200 years.

The NJROTC at Dundalk High School held a donation for Haiti during all lunch shifts. Tony Baker stated “It was a good donation. We raised $400.” Heather Carol stated “It was tragic. It was heart breaking and I think that we should go over and help”.
