Vans vs. Converse, You Decide!

Vans and Converse are very popular right now but why? Is it because of comfort, price or just overall appearance? Either way these shoes are definitely in, but before we decide what the students at DHS think of vans and converse let’s start out with some background information on these shoes.

Vans was founded on March 16th, 1966 by Paul Van Doren in Anaheim, California, they began producing shoes for different sports such as basketball, baseball and wrestling. Since these products didn’t sell well Vans was forced to file for bankruptcy in 1983. Eventually, Vans slip-ons gained international attention and appeal when they were worn by Sean Penn in the 1982 iconic film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Penn’s   black and white checkered Vans took the company from $20 to $40 million after the film came out. The Converse Rubber Shoe Company was created by Marquis M. Converse in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908. The company’s main turning point came when the Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced then in 1921 a basketball player named Charles H. Chuck Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet and Converse gave him a job. He worked as a salesman and ambassador and in 1923 his signature was added to the All Star patch.

I wear both Vans and Converse, but I prefer Vans because of their look, variety and comfort. I’ve given out surveys for the senior students at DHS to see which shoe is more popular: Vans or Converse?

Well, the results are in and apparently I wasn’t clear enough on how people should take this survey. You were asked to circle ONE of the three choices not both and not I don’t like them and then circle a pair of shoes that you do like. Originally, you were supposed to vote on whether you like Vans or Converse or neither ,not BOTH! Get it together people we’re seniors now and I don’t think this survey was that hard. It’s not the HSA!  I honestly don’t understand. Were the details that fuzzy that you guys couldn’t answer a simple survey correctly?

But that’s beside the point, surprisingly Converse won over Vans, so the seniors at Dundalk High prefer these shoes more.

I say Vans. They’re more comfortable. For me at least. I think both go great with skinnies though!

I personally prefer Vans over Converse.
Vans are a lot more comfortable and have more of a variety of shoe styles.
Converses are skinny and hurt my feet whenever i walk.
    Vaaaaaaaaaaaansss! :D
