Valentines Day is quickly approaching, but what ever will you wear on the big day? Both men and women like to look great for their special someone, so I thought I’d give some tips on what to wear for Valentines Day. Valentines Day isn’t one of my favorite holidays to say the least. Teddy bears, flowers and jewelry are things I definitely don’t want showing up at my door step Chocolate is the only thing that makes me happy. Flowers not only make my allergies go through the roof, they also smell bad and there a waste of money. Teddy bears were cool when I was five, but their pretty much pointless at this point. My perfect Valentine’s Day would be my “sweetie” taking me to my favorite restaurant followed by a very intense game of laser tag or maybe I could cook dinner, and we’d watch Me, Myself and Irene or the Sarah Silverman Program. I guess I’m just not a lovey dovey person, so I try to take a lot of the traditional Valentines Day stuff out. All of you people that are “in love” are probably thinking I’m the most cynical person alive, but that’s simply not true. My philosophy is that you simply don’t need one day to go all out and tell the person your with how much you love and care for them, why not have “Just because days” and for that matter have Valentines Day everyday, why make a whole holiday out of it?
I guess the most obvious colors you want to go for are red, pink and maybe a little white. These aren’t my favorite, especially the pink and white, but this seems to be an ongoing theme for Valentine’s Day. I want to break this look up for every girl so that you can be comfortable on your Valentine’s Day. First lets start with the girly girl; you’re the type that’s obsessed with Valentine’s Day, you think about it months ahead, you love dresses and anything pink and delicate, your’e ever so the romantic and its almost to the point of sickening. You’re the ones that kiss in the hallway for everyone to see and I have to tackle you to get out of the way, so that I’m not late for my next class. Wet Seal is a great store for your type because the dresses are fun and frilly and the prints are romantic and girly. The prices range from $20-$30, which is pretty inexpensive. Top the look off with some cute peep toe heels; these will give an ultra feminine look. These shoes can be found at Wet Seal as well, $30 and under, some are even on sale! A clutch will finish off this girly girl look. The simplistic chic girl is sophisticated and classy. You want a look that isn’t complicated, but still has that wow factor on Valentines Day. Forever 21 is the place for you. Simple yet chic little black dresses come in many different styles and textures; from drapery necklines to couture dresses you will look classy and lady like. Strappy heels would add some pizzazz to this look, throw on some long pearls and you have completed you simplistic chic Valentine’s Day look.
Just because you’re a tomboy doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy being “in love”. You’re not the type to wear dresses, but you still want to look special for your “honey bunny”. Your look is comfortable and casual because right after your date you might want to play a game of basketball with your sweetie. Old Navy is a great place for you to go; for me Old Navy has a very casual All-American look without the expensive price tag. You can go for a casual look with a pair of skinny khakis and a button up or wear a pair of dark denim, and a cardigan its comfortable and cute. Old Navy has a khaki craze sale going on right now, and all khakis are under $17. If khakis aren’t your style, you can go for a pair of skinny jeans that range from $20 to $40. Boyfriend cardigans are comfortable and keep in with the tomboy theme, but it also has a feminine edge. Pair this look with a pair of ballerina flats, these can be found at Old Navy from $20-$25. Of course, we have the rocker chick, this girl is my favorite. You tough and rough, but you still love your guy. The perfect date for you would be going to your favorite rock concert and belting out the lyrics to your favorite song with your sweetie. Your look is edgy, feminine and a little vintage. Forever 21 have a great limited addition section called Twist. This look is vintage and edgy. Forever 21 gives you over 20 different looks that match this style, from a-line skirts to vintage cardigans. The colors for this look are black, red, blue, grey, white and leopard print is also popular. This look is also inexpensive; most looks are under $30. The last girl is someone who doesn’t like to label themselves; you’re not a girly girl, a tomboy, rocker chick or chic girl, but you still want to look good for Valentine’s day. Since you have no specific look you can shop just about anywhere. You can even mix and match pieces from the other looks to make something of your own. Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, so get out there and try out these looks because no matter what kind of girl you are, you should still look beautiful on Valentine’s Day. –Stacey Moore
